Another week. Another adventure.
This week we left Moscow and took a 2 hour train ride to a city called Sergeiv Posad. It's a small town with a beautiful cathedral.
This is the metro station by the train station.
First train ride!

Intimate Moments with a Babushka by Kelsey McMurtrey
Souvenir stands. Our favorite part.
Girls have to cover their heads while walking the grounds. Babushkas Kels, Michaela, and Maggie.
Our native coordinator, Gulya, told us to watch out for all of the attractive monks at the cathedral. We kept our eyes peeled and found us a winner. Woot.
You Know You're in Russia if . . . . (In case you every get lost in Eastern Europe and don't know which country you're in)
5. You feel like an international spy because movies like James Bond or Bourne Identity have taught you that all Russians are Vodka-drinking, silenced PP7-toting, smokers who always pose a threat to national security.
4. You play name that smell every time you step into an elevator.
3. You're alarmed when the kid you thought was bending over to pick up a fallen toy is actually going to the bathroom.
2. You eat at McDonald's so much you feel like your making the sequel to Supersize Me.
1. Your wife says something like, "You know what I was thinking about last night right before I fell asleep?. . . . When I get home I buying a whole block of cheese."
We love Russia! This is the best thing we could of done in our first few months of marriage. I love Kels so much, and it's gonna be a bummer to come back home to the real world again.
This week's adventure: Kiev, Ukraine.
Woot.
The buildings there look like disneyland! And that old monk man reminds me of rasputin from the Anastasia story (not to be rude or anything ha) I hope you're having the time of your life there!
ReplyDeleteI have just two things to say.
ReplyDelete1) You're going to come back to America and say "Dude... everything is so plain!" Not to bash on my country or anything... but Russia is so elaborately beautiful!
2) I know of no other woman who could look so darn cute with a shawl draped over her noggin. You win a prize. What is it? Umm... you get to wear a shawl draped over your noggin forever. Yay!
Hey Jord and Kels - this is Matt. Just wanted to let you know that I met your Uncle Ron today at a principal's training in Price. It was funny to have that connection with him. Just a reminder of what a small world it really is. He had really great things to say about Kels and how impressed he was when you guys were down at his house for a missionary fare-well (I think??) and Kels was really helpful in the kitchen and to help out a be part of the family - it was funny to hear him talk about it.
ReplyDeleteHope you guys are doing well. We'd love to have you guys back in Duchesne when you get back home. Let us know if we can help in any way.
