Bostonisms! (at age 3.5)

It has been FAR too long since I have done one of these posts. I literally have three insaaaaaanely long pages of Boston quotes in my phone... because he cracks me up at least a hundred times a day! I mean, three year olds. They are stinking hilarious!

I just can't get over this kid.

Here are some of my favorite Bostonisms (and Boston photos) from the last little while. Enjoy!

****

He fell and bumped his head, and suddenly said, "Oh man, where are my shoes? What day is it?"

I had heartburn suddenly hit me at dinner one night (thanks baby in my belly!), so I raised my arms above my head to help ease the burn. Boston saw me, raised his arms up too, and yelled "TOUCHDOWN!"

Bost: "Mom, I don't want to take a nap."
Me: "I'm sorry Bost, but you need some rest. It's nap time!"
Bost: (slaps hand to forehead) "Ah! I just cant understand how to do this."

Me: "Hey Bost, are you bored?"
Bost: "No, I not boring. I a famous big boy."

Me: "Hey Bost, do you like animals?"
Bost: "Yeah, they like to pet me and lick me."

After spilling some food on the ground...
Me: "Don't worry, bud. I'll clean it up!"
Bost: (comes and slugs me on the arm) "Thanks, bro!"

"Hey Mom? Come here. I want you to give me nugs." (neck snuggles)

I overheard Boston explaining something to Camden, so I asked, "What are you telling him, buddy?"
"Oh," he said, "I just telling him about when I play baseball when I was a young man."

Bost: "Mom, I need a snack."
Me: "Okay, what do you want?"
Bost: "Um, maybe like, pancakes."

One day at lunch..
Bost: "Mom, I'm being soooo nice to Camden right now. I gabe him his juice."
Me: "Oh, thanks Bost! I love it when you're nice to your brother."
Bost: "Yeah. When I'm mean, I punch people. But when I'm nice, I gibb Camden juice."

Bost: "Hey Mom, what time is it?"
Me: "It's 6:50, buddy."
Bost: "Oh, perfect! I have time to cuddle with you."

"Hey Mom! You know what Camden's doing? Zurbers."

After looking at the latest ultrasound pictures of baby #3, Boston asked, "Hey, uhhhhh... why is our baby naked?"

Oh man, do I ever love him.
Like, so much that I can't even handle it.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Being a mom is the best! Hands down.

(To see past Bostonism posts, go here, here, here, here, or here! Man, do those take me back or what.)

Bostonisms, as of late.

My Boston boy turned three on Sunday. THREE. How did that happen?? Where have three years gone? You guys. It's killing me that he is that old. KILLING ME.

I'll recap his birthday in another post, but meanwhile, as I sit here and lament Boston's fleeting childhood (I know, I'm dramatic, okay. I mean, really Kelsey? Calm down.)... I will tell you some things he has said lately that have left us rolling. Because this child. He's pretty hilarious.

While watching me eat some shrimp tacos for lunch, he said, "Mom, dat's bug food."

(When Jord was at school): "Mom, daddy not here? He probbee just going potty."

"Okay Bost, we're going to Texas Roadhouse for Dinner! I think you'll like it-- you can throw peanuts on the floor!"
"Ohhhhh! I lub it! And dey hab elephants there??"

At dinner one night...
"Boston, you have to sit at your chair until all of your food is gone."
(Slaps hand to forehead)
"Ah man, I hate dis."

Camden: "Dada dada dada!"
Boston: "Hey mom? Why Camden say dadadada?"
Me: "Camden calls dad, 'Dada'! What do you call him?"
Boston: "Uh, I caw him George."

While walking in the park, there was a man walking towards us in a superman shirt. Boston suddenly yelled out, "Heyyy! Superman! I yike your shirt!"
(The guy didn't respond and kept walking)
Boston: "Ah man! Dat guy not eeben talk to me!"

"Hey mom? Dere's no toof-brushes at da zoo."
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah. Own-wee animals and alligators."

"Hey Boston, do you like hair cuts?"
"No. I yike zurbers though."

"Hey mom? We goin' to shoot da ducks?"
"Uh, no buddy. We don't shoot animals."
"But mom! Nephi shoot animals!"
(Uhhh, how do I argue with that??)

One particularly flaming hot day, after scootering around the neighborhood...
Me: "Boston! Your head is so sweaty!"
Bost: "Dank you. Your welcome. Me too."

And finally...

While hugging me yesterday, he suddenly leaned over and whispered into my ear,
"Mom, you're sooooo powerful."

***

I mean, this kid!! I have no idea where he gets half of the things he says.
Boston, you're pretty weird. But you're cute, so you can stay.

Birthday recap! Comin' up quick!

The Parkette! {Hometown Hidden Gems}

**This post was done in collaboration with RelayRides! Go check out more of their Hometown Hidden Gems from other contributors, here! They are an awesome company who provide a peer-to-peer car rental service. So genius!! What a way to see the world.. and not break the bank while doing so!**

Here's a confession: I love exploring new places. In fact, it's one of my favorite things to do...ever. There's a line from the movie "Dan in Real Life" (A definite favorite in our house) when they ask their guest, Marie, to share her idea of perfect day. She says something like,

"My idea of the perfect day would be waking up in a place I've never been before, where there's a language I don't speak, and everything is different and new and I can just take it all in."

(Okay, so that was a really rough translation of what I remember... because I can't find the actual quote anywhere online and  I'm too lazy to put the movie in to double-check it. So just go with it, yo!) But I love it. I love it because, well, it sounds like a perfect day to me, too. Traveling is like a drug. Once you start, you just can't stop thinking about new places and where your next trip will be and what you want to explore when you get there. It's SO addicting.

But if you're like me, you have responsibilities that make it kind of impossible to fly halfway across the world every month. And hello, money. (Money is the worst! Can't we just all eat ice cream and hold hands and  fly for free?) So instead, I've learned to find the pockets of culture and excitement in the place I am NOW... and guess what? It's just as fun! To just open my door, get outside, and DO SOMETHING. To get up off the couch, to get out into the city... to try new things and to make awesome new memories... I mean, guys. Isn't life the greatest!?

So I'm going to start a new series on my blog (it might be huge, it might be mini...I'm not quite sure yet! Ha!), to hopefully capture some of the 'hidden gems' that can be found right here in my little (or not-so-little) city of Lexington, Kentucky. Because why dream every day away, when there are so many awesome things to be done/ found/ eaten right here in my own back yard?? (or as Bost would call it, the backie-ARRD. Think pirate lingo.)

Our first stop? THE PARKETTE. Guys. This place is awesome. It's an old-school drive-in with cheap, greasy, awesome food... and the atmosphere is basically the bomb. It's decked out with old-school memorabilia, and has a definite 50's diner feel to it... which I'm in love with. Every time we drive past, Boston begs us to take him back. It's a definite favorite!

^^ONION RIIIIINGS. I love you.^^
^^I'm in love with the old-school bar stools. SO CUTE.^^
My boys are obsessed with the hats at The Parkette. And hi, do they look freaking cute in them or what? Boston gets so excited when he realizes that he gets to keep the hat "for ebber."

"Momma? I take dis coo hat HOME wiff me?? Dat so awesome!"
^^icecream mouth.^^
^^That cheeser. Melts my heart every time.^^
^^He's quite the peek-a-boo ninja these days. It's the cutest.^^
And now, for one thousand pictures of my children on the steps of The Parkette. Because really, what's a parent to do?

Also, please note that Camden is smiling perfectly in every photo (a Christmas miracle...In July?), and Boston is not even remotely looking at the camera. Of course. Hash tag: toddlerzthesedayz.
^^Please tell me you don't want to just chew on Camden right now. I can't even handle the cuteness!!^^
^^All right, Bost. I love you, but you're getting cropped.^^
^^CAMDEN!^^
Okay. I now realize that there were far more photos of my children than of the actual Parkette. Whoops! But just take my word for it: If you're in Lexington, GO HERE. It's awesome. And please get the funnel cake fried sunday. Because FUNNEL CAKE!

6.16.2014

Oh hello, Monday.

This weekend was a good one. We ate pizza, played a lot of golf outside on the grass, and celebrated dad's everywhere... and soaked up time with our daddy at home. Happy late Father's Day!

Now that Jord is back into a regular school schedule (he just started the MBA program! Whoop whoop!), the boys and I just smother him when he is home for the weekends. We MISS THAT MAN  when he's gone during the week.

Every morning when Boston wakes up he asks me, "Mom? Daddy downstairs, or daddy at school?" and his face always falls when I tell him that Jordan is at school. He absolutely adores Jordan.

But now! Monday is here. Which means my list goes a little something like:

laundry
go to the library
grocery shopping
laundry
snuggle my babies
naptime
laundry
play outside (and try not to melt... helllloooo 90 degrees with 80% humidity. Yowza!)
eat popsicles
laundry

Have I mentioned that I need to do some laundry?

But first, I should probably pick up all the diapers off my living room floor.

Happy Monday!

Bostonisms, as of late.

Boston. Oh, our little Boston biscuit. Seriously, I just don't even know where he gets the things he says. He is constantly making us laugh our heads off. We just look at each other and say, "What the. Did he really just say that?"

He keeps us on our toes, that one. And I love it. Here are some of my favorite Boston quotes from the last little bit.

While we were sitting down for dinner, Jordan said, "Oh man, Cam. You have a booger face!"
Boston didn't miss a beat and said, "Haha. Daddy need to sit in time-out. He say potty words."
On a walk at the park...
Boston: "I need a phone, mom. Where my phone is?
Me: "You don't have a phone, buddy. You're only two."
Boston: "Oh, okay. Maybe Santa bring me one."
After crying about seeing a scary bug (a fruit fly)...

Boston: "Mom, {sniff sniff} I need a tissue for my tears."
Me: "Okay, here you go. Is that better?"
Boston (after wiping his tears): "Yep. How do I look?"

One night, he was cradling his Elmo doll like a baby. So I asked him, "Oh, do you like babies, Bost?"
"Ummm," he said, "I like big boys eeben better."
Me: "It's hot today! Isn't it, Boston?"
Boston: "Yeah, I sweaty. It kinda muggy out here."
^^Goob status. I love it.^^
^^FAVORITE.^^
Boston: "Hey Dad? I wanna go outside and play."
Jord: "You know what pal, we have to stay inside and clean for a little bit."
Boston: "WHAT?? NO! Dat no make any sense!"

And my favorite...

"Hey Mom? I wub you. Jesus Christ, AMEN."

Have I mentioned that I stinking LOVE THIS BOY?
Just checking.
